Lithographed decorative title, 49 engraved mapsheets with original hand-coloring (full-page, one double-page). Folio, 17x14 inches, publisher's 1/2 roan, central gilt stamped title on upper cover, worn and somewhat stained, binding intact but separated from book block; title page loose with staining and minimal edge loss, occasional spotting, hand-color oxidized with offsetting throughout, map of United States with small split at lower center fold, map of Michigan with small marginal tear. Additional Details

Largely a re-issue of Bradford's Illustrated Atlas of 1838. The majority of the maps bear his imprint including the famous map of Texas as a Republic, here in the second state with counties added.
